Chelmsford police seeking letters for wounded veterans
CHELMSFORD, Mass. (AP) — Police in Chelmsford are asking residents to write supportive letters to veterans recovering from injuries at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Veterans will be traveling to Washington in a few weeks to visit the medical center and hope to bring 5,000 letters from Massachusetts to wounded veterans.
Police Chief James Spinney said the letters don’t need to be fancy, just a well wish or a few words of encouragement. Those who want to participate are asked to send their letters, drawings or notes to the Chelmsford Police Department by Sept. 12.
