PISCATAWAY _ New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy is set to sign into law a bill expanding the state’s paid family leave program. The Democrat says he will sign the legislation Tuesday in Piscataway. The bill doubles paid family leave from six to 12 weeks. Lawmakers estimate that the average benefit under the new law would rise to $689 a week, from $540. By Mike Catalini. SENT: 130 words. TRENTON _ New Jersey’s Supreme Court has reversed a lower court’s ruling that denied benefits to an injured volunteer firefighter because she didn’t outside employment. UPCOMING: 250 words by 3 p.m.



SACRAMENTO, Calif. _ California and 15 other states _ including New Jersey _ filed a lawsuit Monday against President Donald Trump’s emergency declaration to fund a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra released a statement Monday saying the suit alleges the Trump administration’s action violates the Constitution. SENT: 258 words.

_ CAR CRASHES INTO HOME _ A two-vehicle accident in New Jersey’s largest city sent one car crashing into a home, but no injuries were reported.
