Daisy H. Schwefel

DEFOREST -- Daisy H. Schwefel, 82, of DeForest, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

Daisy was born on Sept. 10, 1936, in Watertown, the daughter of Edwin and Erna (Petig) Eckhardt. She grew up in Watertown and was a 1955 graduate of Watertown High School. After graduation, she went on to beauty school to earn her state license as a beautician. On Oct. 12, 1958, Daisy married Wilmar Schwefel and God blessed their union with a son, Timothy. Daisy’s faith was very important to her. She was a lifelong member of the Moravian Church -- first in Watertown, and then for many years at the Christian Faith Moravian Church in DeForest.

For leisure, Daisy loved arts and crafts. She was a very talented artist and she enjoyed creating works of art. Whether it was cross-stitching or coloring, she expressed her art in different ways. She also enjoyed listening to and playing music. Her instrument of choice was the string bass. She had a love for birds as well, especially cardinals. Daisy was a proud grandmother. She loved to spend time with her granddaughters. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Daisy is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Wilmar; her son, Timothy (Lori) Schwefel of Oregon; and three granddaughters, Brittany (Aaron Peterson) Schwefel, Bethany Schwefel and Bridget Schwefel. She is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Brian Eckhardt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Daisy’s honor may be made to Christian Faith Moravian Church in DeForest.

A first visitation to honor Daisy’s life will be held from 5 till 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home in Watertown. A second visitation will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Christian Faith Moravian Church in DeForest, with a memorial service starting at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jason Andersen will officiate the service. Burial will take place in Ebenezer Moravian Cemetery in Watertown following the service.
