NATO Detonates Kosovo Packages
PRISTINA, Yugoslavia (AP) _ British bomb experts blew up four suspicious packages inside a car parked in front of Pristina’s main hotel Sunday.
U.N. police spokesman Charley Johnson said police were tipped off shortly before noon that a bomb had been planted in a red car outside the Grand Hotel in downtown Pristina and they would go off within 10 minutes.
Detonation experts serving with the NATO-led Kosovo peacekeeping force subsequently blew up four packages inside the vehicle.
The entire downtown area of Pristina was cordoned off by peacekeepers and U.N. police, preventing reporters and others from getting closer to the scene.
