Humble ISD softball roundup: Summer Creek, Kingwood Park’s season ends in area round

Summer Creek and Kingwood Park’s seasons came to an end over the weekend.

The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Panthers both lost their best-of-three series in the area round.

Kingwood Park’s Brooke Gainous pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts as the Lady Panthers defeated Georgetown 6-4.

K-Park had 11 hits in the Game one and Abbie Forrester led the Lady Panthers with three RBI.

Georgetown edged K-Park in Game two with a 4-3 victory.

The Lady Eagles scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take the victory.

Georgetown completed the series with a 7-3 win over K-Park in game three.

The Lady Panthers end the season 21-11.

Summer Creek loses to Dawson in game 3

Pearland Dawson ended Summer Creek’s historic season over the weekend.

Dawson’s Courtney Day hit a walk-off home run as the Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Bulldogs 6-5 in eight innings during Game one.

Summer Creek fought back and defeated Dawson 8-6 in Game 2.

Sophomore Jillian Walters led the Lady Bulldogs with five RBI in the game. Senior left-handed pitcher Dani Moreno pitched five inning with two strikeouts to pick up the win for the Lady Bulldogs. Samantha Rodriguez added two hits for Summer Creek at the plate.

Dawson defeated Summer Creek 7-1 in the series finale to advance in the playoffs.

Summer Creek made a lot of history this season.

The Lady Bulldogs made the playoffs for the first time in school history, won their first ever district title, won their first ever playoff series, defeated Atascocita for the first time and defeated Kingwood for the first time.

The Lady Bulldogs end the season 20-10-1.
