MOOSE LOOSE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A moose has been released into the Utah wildness after spending several hours wandering around the University of Utah campus. University library spokeswoman Heidi Brett said the moose ate shrubs and meandered around a plaza adjacent to the library early Monday morning. It didn’t hurt anyone or do any damage, but Utah wildlife manager Riley Peck says it did weigh around 800 pounds and probably wandered down from the nearby mountains looking for new territory. Wildlife officials had relocated the moose to the mountains and it ran into the forest.

11-YEAR-OLD DRIVER-DAD CHARGED

DALEVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A jury has convicted a Pennsylvania father of forcing his 11-year-old daughter to drive him and his 8-year-old son because he was drunk. Sean Hannon was found guilty yesterday of endangering the welfare of children, driving under the influence, recklessly endangering another person and various traffic citations. Another driver noticed the Dodge Dakota pickup truck moving slowly along the roadway near Hamlin in November and saw a child behind the wheel. Prosecutors say he alerted authorities when the truck crashed into a tree and took the keys so Hannon wouldn’t flee.

TEXTBOOK THIEVES

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A federal grand jury in Milwaukee has indicted two Texas residents in connection with textbook thefts at colleges around the country. Federal prosecutors say Ryan Lewis and Genisis Abellar, both of Houston, two stole textbooks from instructors’ offices at several University of Wisconsin System schools and shipped the textbooks to a Texas business, which sold them to college students. They said the two also carried out the same scheme at colleges in Minnesota, North Dakota, Arizona, New Mexico and Washington state.

STORMY DANIELS

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump had his big reveal. Now Stormy Daniels is having hers at a strip club only about a mile away from the White House. The adult film actress who is suing the president took it all off Monday night at a lounge called Cloakroom, around the same time Trump revealed that Brett Kavanaugh is his choice for the Supreme Court. It’s apparently a case of epic timing. But it amounts to the latest example of the adult film star trolling the president, who she says tried to hush up their 2006 affair with $130,000. Daniels is suing the president to challenge the confidentiality agreement. Trump denies the affair.

SNAKE EYES-TSA

MIAMI (AP) — A man with a python hidden inside an external hard drive was stopped from boarding a Florida plane headed to Barbados. The Miami Herald reports that officers screening luggage at the Miami International Airport Sunday found an “organic mass” inside a checked bag. Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Sari Koshetz says a bomb expert then examined the bag and found the live snake in the hard drive. She says the snake was “obviously not an imminent terrorist threat,” but its interception prevented a possible wildlife threat. The passenger was fined, and the snake was taken into custody by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services. Neither man nor snake made the flight.

MUSICAL MASON

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — It was only a matter of time, just a couple of months actually, before a preteen boy captured in a viral video yodeling in a Walmart put out a record. Eleven-year-old Mason Ramsey’s version of Hank Williams’ Lovesick Blues has been watched more than 50 million times on YouTube and has spawned multiple remixes. Now he’s releasing his first album. Mason has been singing since he was three. He had been performing in nursing homes around his home town when the viral video came out in April. Now he is signed to Big Loud Records and Atlantic Records.
