Teays Physical Therapy Center Inc. and the Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s female Gamer of the Week to freshman Bailey Fisher of Hurricane High School.

Bailey Fisher had an outstanding season with the Redskins girls’ soccer team this year. Fisher was an offensive key player for Hurricane throughout the season. As a freshman, she finished with a remarkable 41 goals. Bailey led the team in goals, assists and was the second overall scorer for AAA.

When Fisher was asked about the season she said, “It had been a while since Hurricane girls made it to the states, so we wanted to go and bring back the title. I couldn’t be happier with how our season went.”

During both the state semifinal and championship game, Fisher came through when the Redskins needed her most, making an impressive offensive display. In the semifinal win against Hedgesville, Fisher had all 3 of Hurricane’s goals. In the championship game, Fisher gave Hurricane a 1-0 lead with a goal at 37.09 despite being surrounded by defenders. She went on to be one of the four Redskins to score during the shootout, giving Hurricane the win over Wheeling Park for the AAA state title.

Redskins coach Shelly Young was extremely happy with how the season progressed, stating, “The girls improved each week throughout the season, pushing themselves to get better. We worked hard on our game plan this past week to come into the state tournament at our peak.”

When it comes to Bailey Fisher, the coach had nothing but great things to say. “Bailey has had an outstanding freshman year. It took some time for her to adjust to a new team and our team to become a cohesive unit, but through the season you could see it come together. Bailey has been a great addition to this team; she has such a high work rate and soccer IQ.”

Fisher currently carries a 4.0 GPA and is the daughter of Jessica Fisher. Bailey is also in a variety of clubs at school including Key Club and FCA.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s Female Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald.
