Two men arrested on multiple charges after traffic stop
NORFOLK - A traffic stop led to a pair of arrests last Wednesday.
According to Captain Mike Bauer, a Norfolk Police officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle that had expired license plates.
The officer had contact with the driver who was identified as 49-year-old Dennis Wiese. A passenger of the vehicle was identified as 53-year-old Joey Colwell of Norfolk.
A check of Colwell’s record showed that he had three active Madison County arrest warrants.
In a subsequent search, officers recovered a glass pipe with burnt residue near where Colwell was sitting. The residue tested positive for methamphetamine.
Another glass pipe that tested positive for meth was also recovered from Wiese along with a small amount of marijuana.
Colwell was arrested on the warrants and for possession of a controlled substance.
Wiese was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, no valid registration, no proof of insurance, possession of marijuana (less than 1 ounce), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both men were housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
