FRISCO, Texas _ So many questions asked of Dak Prescott revolve around two years ago, when the Dallas quarterback led the Cowboys to an NFC-best 13 wins as a rookie before losing his playoff debut. There’s a new angle to that old story line now that the 2016 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year has his first postseason victory. Prescott and the Cowboys (11-6) are headed to Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for a divisional matchup with the Rams (13-3) on Saturday night. By Pro Football Writer Schuyler Dixon. ATLANTA _ A coalition of civil rights groups in Atlanta is using this year’s Super Bowl to help kick off a renewed “war on the Confederacy,” in a fight to remove Confederate monuments around the nation. The groups have announced a planned Feb. 2 rally on the eve of the championship football game being hosted in Atlanta. The Southern Poverty Law Center says there are 1,747 Confederate symbols and 722 monuments in the U.S. It says Virginia, Texas and Georgia lead the nation in having the most Confederate symbols. HONOLULU _ Adam Svensson of Canada capped off a rookie round to remember with a 10-foot birdie putt for a 9-under 61 to take a one-shot lead in the opening round Thursday at the Sony Open. Texan Jordan Spieth in his 2019 debut had to be stopped from taking an incorrect drop under the new rules. NEW YORK _ Free agent infielder Jed Lowie and the New York Mets have agreed to a $20 million, two-year contract, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press. Lowrie played mostly second base for the Oakland Athletics during the past three seasons.
