QPR nets goal-of the-season contender in 3-1 loss at Palace
LONDON (AP) — A sensational 40-meter strike by Matt Phillips was the only positive for Queens Park Rangers in a 3-1 loss at Crystal Palace that kept the visitors in the Premier League’s relegation zone on Saturday.
Palace’s victory wasn’t in doubt by the time Phillips unleashed a dipping shot that flew in off the underside of the crossbar, for one of the best goals so far this season.
Palace blew away QPR by scoring all its goals before halftime, with Wilfried Zaha putting the hosts ahead with a far-post finish from Yannick Bolasie’s cross.
Bolasie produced an almost identical cross in the 40th that QPR goalkeeper Rob Green tipped into the path of James MacArthur.
Joel Ward added the third in the 42nd in QPR’s 12th loss in 13 away games.
