Police looking for inmate who walked out of Kentucky jail

MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky State Police say an inmate has escaped from an eastern Kentucky jail.

Police said in a statement that 35-year-old Justin Cody Whitt somehow walked past jail staff at the Rockcastle County Detention Center Thursday morning as inmates left for work release. The statement says Whitt fled the area on foot after making it outside the jail and police are searching for him. He was in jail on drug charges.

Whitt is described as being 6 feet and 220 pounds with brown eyes. He was las seen wearing solid orange coveralls.

Anyone with information on his location should call police.
