Keith Tkachuk To Return to Coyotes

February 6, 2001

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) _ Keith Tkachuk, out of the Phoenix Coyotes lineup since a concussion Jan. 26, intends to play Wednesday night against Carolina.

Tkachuk lasted the entire practice Monday.

``My head is fine, but it’s a little tough phsyically when you miss a week,″ he said. ``Actually, I needed the rest, and I feel good right now.″

Coyotes coach Bob Francis said defenseman Jyrki Lumme probably will be on the ice again as well.

Lumme also skated Monday’s entire practice, having missed 19 games with back and sciatic nerve problems.

``It felt pretty good, the best it has since Christmas,″ Lumme said. ``It’s another two days before the game, so we’ll probably have to wait until just before game time (to decide).″

Shane Doan, however, probably is out for yet another week. He missed the last three games with an abdominal strain. He skated Monday for the first time since injuring himself Jan. 24.

Overall, Francis said, the All-Star break was helpful.

``We had played a lot of hockey and had a lot of bumps and bruises,″ he said. ``It bought us some time to get some injuries healthier.″
