Man suffers life-threatening wound after accidentally shooting himself Monday, Verona police say

A Madison man shot himself in the leg Monday afternoon, causing life-threatening injuries, Verona police said.

The 26-year-old man was in a vehicle when he accidentally shot himself at about 4 p.m. in the parking lot of a Blain’s Farm & Fleet at 600 Hometown Circle.

Verona Police Department Lt. David Dresser said officers arrived to find the man unconscious and performed live-saving measures until paramedics arrived and took him to UW Hospital.

Dresser said no crimes were committed.
