Lutheran High Northeast volleyball preseason ranked fifth in Class ‘D-1’ in OWH

The Omaha World Herald fifth ranked in Class ‘D-1’ Lutheran High Northeast volleyball team gets their season underway tonight when they host Elgin Public/Pope John at 7:00.

The Lady Eagles return four players with starting experience in Matty Boning, Kendra Rosberg, Becca Gebhardt, and Chloe Spence from last year’s 18-17 team. The school will drop down from ‘C-2’ to ‘D-1’ this year for volleyball due to enrollment. Lutheran High Northeast’s home schedule includes matches with Elgin Public/Pope John, Pierce, Columbus Lakeview, Stanton, a triangular on October 4th with West Point Guardian Angels Central Catholic and Wisner/Pilger, and the Eagle Classic on October 20th.

The Lutheran High Northeast volleyball team is preseason ranked fifth in Class ‘D-1’ in the Omaha World Herald. They are unranked in the Lincoln Journal Star. The Lady Eagles, who dropped down to Class ‘D-1’ from ‘C-2’, had a record of 18-17 last year. They open tonight at home versus Elgin Public/Pope John.

The Omaha World Herald & Lincoln Journal Star have released their preseason volleyball rankings. In the Omaha World Herald, Class ‘B’ Three-time Defending State Champion Omaha Skutt is ranked first in the ‘Nebraska Top 10’ & Class ‘B’ while Millard North is number one in Class ‘A’. In Class ‘C-1’, Defending State Champion Wahoo is preseason ranked first. In Class ‘C-2’, Stanton is number one, Hartington Cedar Catholic comes in third, Ponca is ranked fourth, Wisner/Pilger is preseason ranked sixth, and Clarkson/Leigh is eighth. In Class ‘D-1’, Three-time Defending State Champion Johnson/Brock is ranked first, Hartington/Newcastle is fourth, Lutheran High Northeast is preseason ranked fifth, and Elkhorn Valley comes in seventh. In Class ‘D-2’, Defending State Champion Exeter/Milligan is preseason ranked first, Ewing is second, Humphrey St. Francis comes in fourth, Wynot is preseason ranked seventh, and Chambers/Wheeler Central is eighth. In the Lincoln Journal Star preseason rankings, Class ‘A’ Defending State Champion Omaha Marian is first while Class ‘B’ Three-time Defending State Champion Omaha Skutt is ranked first in their class. In Class ‘C-1’, Defending State Champion Wahoo is preseason ranked first. In Class ‘C-2’, Defending State Champion Superior is first, Stanton is number two, Hartington Cedar Catholic comes in third, Ponca is ranked fifth, Clarkson/Leigh is preseason ranked seventh, and Battle Creek is ninth. In Class ‘D-1’, Three-time Defending State Champion Johnson/Brock is ranked first, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family is sixth, and Hartington/Newcastle is preseason ranked seventh. In Class ‘D-2’, Bruning/Davenport/Shickley is preseason ranked first, Ewing is third, Humphrey St. Francis comes in fourth, and Chambers/Wheeler Central is preseason ranked fifth.
