Man surrenders after standoff
A man barricaded himself inside a home for several hours this morning.
Fort Wayne Police were called to the 3700 block of Chestnut St. just before 5 a.m., when a woman called 911 about a disturbance inside the home, a statement from police said.
Officers requested assistance from The Emergency Services Team and the Crisis Response Team after the woman told police the man was armed with a gun.
Officers used a loudspeaker, called the man on the phone and used a ‘flash-bang’ device inside the home but the man refused to surrender, police said.
Just after 8 a.m., police used a chemical agent and the man surrendered.
No one was injured during the standoff. The suspect is being interviewed by detectives.
