TC Line: Teens and Elderly Drivers a Bad Comparison
This is about the article in Wednesday’s Times-Called comparing accident records for teenage drivers ... with senior citizen drivers. The comparison is not valid, because teenage drivers basically cover a four-year age span, from ages 16 or 19, whereas senior drivers cover span of time from age 65 on up. That would be at least a 25-year time span.
Don’t let dogs ruin it
I have enjoyed watching the development of Longmont’s new nature area and look forward to its opening. I love dogs as much as anyone, and I hope there’s a way to keep it under control and not ruin it, like the beach at Union Reservoir, (where) dog defecation and stench is very bad.
You know I can appreciate the coverage on the hurricane, but for Pete’s sake, every channel, all night, all day? That’s just stupid. It’s ridiculous. It went from a (Category) 4 to 1 ... in a matter of hours, and now they feel obligated to blast us with the news 24/7. Oh, no, there’s a wire down! Oh no, there’s a puddle! Look at how wet I am! Please, give it a rest.
If you want to hear the national anthem at the beginning of an NFL game, why don’t you just stand up and sing it during the commercial instead of wanting to sit in your La-Z-Boy and watch other people sing the national anthem? This is a participatory event, where all people should stand up and sing the national anthem. So you can do it at home. You don’t need to watch it on television.
The call about Obama’s conspiring to influence elections and violating the emoluments clause was shocking and puzzling, until I realized the caller is just suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. Please get that checked out.
Cell phones in cars
Read of the T-bone and rollover crash (Wednesday) at Nelson and Hover. When is this state going to get dead serious — pardon the expression — about clamping down on use of cell phones for any reason in any way while behind the wheel. We need to have penalties that are so severe that it absolutely is not part of the consciousness. For example: second offense, forfeiture of driver’s license; third offense, forfeiture of the car. But the politicians won’t do it. They want to get re-elected. I’d rather have all the motorists get home.
I have a real problem with Democrat Sen. Diane Feinstein from California. She spreads rumor, innuendo and character assassination against a fine man who’s been a great judge in the federal appellate court, just because she doesn’t want him to be a Supreme Court justice. She wants somebody that will legislate from the bench. It’s time that she resigned, or it’s time she get expelled.
