January 2, 2019

The Allen County coroner’s office has identified the victim in a fatal shooting on New Year’s Eve.

Marlon Jamon Davis Jr., 16, of Fort Wayne died from a gunshot wound, the coroner’s office said in a statement after an autopsy.

Davis had been taken by a private vehicle to a local hospital around 4:30 p.m., and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police were led to the area of the 2000 block of South Lafayette Street, where they collected shell casings from the road where they believe the shooting took place. Police also believe Davis was inside the vehicle when he was shot.

Davis’ death has been ruled the 44th homicide in Allen County during 2018.
