Unshaven officers give back to donors

HUNTINGTON — As the Huntington Police Department’s “No-Shave November” fundraiser hits its midway point, the officers are showing their appreciation starting with their smallest donors — elementary school students.

As part of the fundraiser, officers have traded in their razors and shaving cream and are letting their beards flow in exchange for donations to the Hoops Family Children’s Hospital at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Elementary schools across the county are battling to see which class can raise the most money for the grand prize of getting to give officers their first shaves in December.

Officers showed their appreciation to the students Thursday at Huntington Middle School by helping serve lunch during the school’s annual Thanksgiving dinner.

Donations can be made through HPD-NoShave.com or by check addressed to the Huntington Police Department at 675 10th St., Huntington, WV 25701.
