Sheriff: Man on tracks wearing headphones killed by train
CASHMERE, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a 32-year-old man was killed when a train hit him while he was walking on the tracks southeast of Leavenworth.
The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office says Mario Villalobos Subias of Mexico was walking on train tracks in Cashmere Thursday evening when a train coming from behind hit him.
The sheriff’s office says train operators sounded the horn multiple times but the man did not respond. An investigation indicates he was wearing headphones at the time.
The sheriff’s office says Villalobos Subias was found underneath a train car and was dead at the scene.
Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad reported the incident.
