Geneva 81, Oklahoma Baptist 79

TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Troy Nesmith scored 27 points and unseeded Geneva (Pa.) won its second consecutive upset by beating eighth-seeded Oklahoma Baptist 81-79 on Thursday in the second round of the NAIA Tournament.

Geneva (24-6), who led 34-28 at halftime, pulled to a 13-point advantage on Nesmith’s 3-pointer with 18 minutes to play.

Oklahoma Baptist (29-7) roared back on Quinn Woolridge’s six 3-pointers and the inside play of Eric Cardenas. Woolridge’s 20 points led the Bisons.

Cardenas, who finished with 19 points, cut the lead to 62-61 with a layup with 7:30 to play.

Oklahoma Baptist was down 79-76 with three seconds left when Woolridge’s 3-point attempt rattled in and out. Andre Norman hit two foul shots for Geneva and Woolridge sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the final points of the game.

Geneva will meet No. 1-seeded Georgetown (Ky.) in the quarterfinals Friday.
