Connecticut man gets 100 years in prison for killing 2

July 24, 2019

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut man convicted of killing two people in a drive-by shooting in 2008, two months after police say he fatally shot a third man, has been sentenced to 100 years in prison.

The Hartford Courant reports that 37-year-old Harold Patterson was sentenced Wednesday for gunning down 21-year-old Lamar Gresham and 23-year-old Carlos Ortiz in Hartford in August 2008. Patterson was convicted by a jury in May of two counts of murder.

Prosecutors say he killed the victims for “no reason.”

Patterson also faces charges for the killing of Raymond Hite in June 2008.

Patterson’s attorney, William Gerace, says his client “vehemently proclaims his innocence.”

The killings of Gresham and Ortiz remained unsolved until a cold case unit reopened the investigation and arrested him in December 2016.
