Manslaughter charge for British Virgin Islands boat captain
ROAD TOWN, British Virgin Islands (AP) — A boat captain from the British Virgin Islands who was involved in a crash that killed a U.S. woman and a Jamaican man has been charged with manslaughter.
New Zealand native Stephen Fossi was not required to enter a plea when he appeared in court Thursday. Prosecutors say the 45-year-old Fossi was taking a group of people out for entertainment the night of Jan. 26 when he hit a rock near the island of Virgin Gorda.
Killed were Kari Anne Way of Charlevoix, Michigan and Howard Anderson of Jamaica.
It is unclear what exactly led to the crash, and prosecutors gave no details.
Fossi was released on $200,000 bond.
