Trump blast Democrats at Marsha Blackburn rally in Tennessee

October 2, 2018

JOHNSON CITY, Tennessee President Trump on Monday labeled Democrats the “party of crime” and urged voters to stop them in next month’s midterm elections.

He tore into Democrats for supporting higher taxes, open borders and lawlessness, singling out Senate Democrats for their ruthless opposition to Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh.

“Democrats are willing to do anything and hurt anyone,” as they’ve done to Judge Kavanaugh, Mr. Trump told a rally with thousands of supporters at the Freedom Hall Civic Center.

The real reason Democrats oppose Judge Kavanaugh was not because of alleged sexual misbehavior in high school or college, said Mr. Trump, but because as a Supreme Court justice, he will follow the Constitution.

“They want to stop him because they know he will follow the Constitution as written,” he said. “That’s been his history.”

Democrat policies supporting illegal immigration are literally killing Americans, said the president.

He said a vote for a Republican in November was a vote against the Democrats’ politics of “anger destruction and chaos.”

“This country will never be Venezuela that I can tell you. That is what they are looking for. The Democratic party has been taken over by the resistance,” said the president.

“They are only good for one thing. They stick together like glue,” he said of Democrats. “They will take everything, including your Second Amendment, they will take everything away.”

The rally aimed to boost Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn’s run for Senate. She is in a tight race with former Gov. Phil Bresden for the vacant seat left by retiring Sen. Bob Corker.

The president called Mrs. Blackburn “a true fighter.”

Mrs. Blackburn took the stage and voice unwavering support for Mr. Trump.

“We love the president in Tennessee,” she said to huge applause. “I know the Democrats keep saying that there is a blue wave coming but let me tell you smelting when that the blue wave reaches the state line it is going to run smack into the red wall.”
