HOUSTON (AP) _ Tim Moore, who just regained eligibility in December, had 22 points and a career-high 20 rebounds Tuesday night, leading Houston past Texas Lutheran, 88-66.

Moore, who was sidelined because of academic problems, also had a career-high five steals, three blocks and a monster dunk that opened the way for a 19-0 Cougar run in the first half.

Houston (4-6) used an 8-0 run to build a 12-4 lead, but the Bulldogs (7-4) matched that with eight straight points of their own, including two of Jerald Reiner’s six 3-pointers.

Reiner led Texas Lutheran with 20 points, with William Smith adding 14.

TLC had its only lead at 15-14 with 11:49 left in the half. But Lonzell Gowdy sparked a 29-7 run that left Houston in command at intermission, 43-22. Gowdy had three steals that led to easy baskets during the run.

Gowdy finished with a career-high 14 points and 4 assists. Damon Jones also scored 14 for the winners. Anthony Knox had 5 points, 7 rebounds and 6 of Houston’s 12 blocked shots.

Houston had a 54-40 rebound edge that enabled the Cougars to get second and third shots on the offensive end while limiting Texas Lutheran to one shot.
