Florissa 5K and fun fair

DIXON – The Florissa 5K, fun run and activity fair is Saturday at Sauk Valley Community College, 173 state Route 2.

The kids Fun Run takes off at 8:30 a.m.; participation is free but registration is required. Each child will receive a T-shirt while supplies last, and a medal.

The 5K registration fee is $25 Friday or $30 Saturday, and the race starts at 9 a.m. The course is accessible to the disabled, and therapy dogs are allowed.

An accessible resource and activity fair offering information about services for people with disabilities of all types, as well as kids and family activities, runs from 8 to 11 a.m. in the East Mall.

New art shows and sales

The 35th Illinois Watercolor Society National Exhibit opens Friday at The Next Picture Show 113 W. First St. in Dixon.

Saturday and Sunday, the Eagle’s Nest Art Group’s annual Spring Membership Art Show will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. on the second floor of Conover Square Mall, 201 N. Third St. in Oregon

More than 50 pieces of art, representing a wide variety of media, oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, glass work, pottery, gourd art, calligraphy, drawing and jewelry will be on display and for sale.

‘Cheaper by the Dozen’

MOUNT MORRIS – The Performing Arts Guild will present the comedy “Cheaper by the Dozen” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Pinecrest Grove Theatre at South McKendrie and Evergreen streets.

First Friday in Mount Morris

MOUNT MORRIS – The First Fridays Open Stage music show returns to the Mount Morris Moose Family Center, 485 E. Hitt St., with registration at 6:30 and the show at 7 p.m. Jerry Tice of Mountain Grass will be the guest host.

Each musician or band performs for 15 minutes. Instruments are acoustic and a professional sound system is provided. Food and beverages will be sold.

Rockin’ at Rosbrook

DIXON – Indie pop and rock band Kirkland Reunion will perform Saturday at Rosbrook Studio, 107 S. Peoria Ave.

Doors open at 7 p.m., and Small Town Hymnal, a local alternative, folk and soul band, will open the show at 8 p.m.

Admission is $5. Pizza and beverages by Mama Cimino’s will be sold.
