February 12, 2019

Rene McIntyre was recognized as the new principal of Sheridan Elementary School during the Cy-Fair ISD Board of Trustees meeting Feb. 11. McIntyre replaced former principal Gina Guidry on Jan. 15 after Guidry retired.

According a press release from CFISD, McIntyre began as a teacher in the district and started at Sheridan Elementary School in 1995 before becoming the instructional specialist for the school in 2005. Since 2009, McIntyre has served as the assistant principal of Sheridan Elementary School before taking on her new position.

During the regular meeting on Feb. 11, Roy Garcia, associate superintendent of school admministration and leadership development, recognized McIntyre taking on the role of principal of Sheridan Elementary School.

“Tonight, we are honored to introduce our new principal of Sheridan not only to [the Board of Trustees], but also to the CFISD community and that new principal is Rene McIntyre,” he said. “Mrs. McIntyre received her Bachelor of Science in education from Stephen F. Austin State University and her Master of Education and Administration from Sam Houston State University. Rene has 29 years of experience in the education profession, all in CFISD.”

McIntyre said she felt honored to take the position and serve for the district.

“Like Roy said, I’ve been at Sheridan for a long time, over 20 years, but I’ve also had the pleasure of working with some amazing leaders,” she said. “I’m more than thrilled to continue that leadership at Sheridan. Thank you for allowing me to continue to serve the Sheridan community and this district as well..”

During the same meeting, CFISD board members approved an election for a $1.76 billion bond to be held on May. 4. The planned projects for the bond were conceived by a group of citizens, staff and students in the Long-Range Planning Committee.
