NEW YORK (AP) _ Defenseman Tomas Kloucek of the New York Rangers will undergo reconstructive surgery Friday to repair an anterior cruciate ligament tear in his left knee.

He tore the ACL and sprained a medial collateral ligament during an April 1 game against the Atlanta Thrashers. Doctors could not perform the ACL operation until the ligament sprain was completely healed.

The rehabilitation process following the ACL surgery is expected to be six months.

Kloucek appeared in 43 games for the Rangers this season, and had one goal and four assists.
