Disney To Cut Time Waiting in Line

July 24, 1999

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) _ Disneyland and Walt Disney World want to make sure they remain the happiest places on Earth for visitors who tend to get frustrated with long lines for rides.

Starting next week, visitors will be able to choose whether to wait in line at popular attractions or take a ticket that would guarantee them a spot in a shorter line as long as they return within an hour.

A display clock will tell visitors how long the wait is for each choice.

``The intent is to provide guests with more productive time in our parks,″ said Bruce Laval, an executive vice president at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. ``There is nothing more unproductive than standing in line, and it is a big point of dissatisfaction with guests.″

Disney expects to extend the system over the next month to attractions at Magic Kingdom and Disney-MGM Studios parks in Orlando.
