The heat is on! Possible record-breaking temps on tap this weekend
Wednesday marked the “last comfy day” and Thursday will be our transition day back into the heat, WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said.
“Highs tomorrow will be in the mid 80s to about 90,” Maze said. “But our humidity levels will still be tolerable.”
There’s a slight chance for thunderstorms Thursday, when temperatures will reach the high 80s.
“We are tracking a weak disturbance that could bring some showers and maybe a baby storm,” Maze said.
That heat jumps to the mid-90s Friday. Maze said record highs are possible Friday and Saturday.
“We had 80 (Wednesday) and we will have 95 on Friday,” Maze said. “For Fayetteville it will be more like 97 degrees on Friday.”
Both Saturday and Sunday could feel like 100 degrees in the Triangle.
Along the North Carolina beaches, temperatures will be range throughout the 80s, with only a chance of showers, Maze said.
