Intoxicated man curses, yells in Marc’s; police arrest Giant Eagle shoplifter: Brook Park Police Blotter

BROOK PARK, Ohio -- Disorderly conduct, Smith Road: An intoxicated Brook Park man, 58, was arrested at about 9:30 a.m. Jan. 30 after he caused a disturbance inside Marc’s Deeper Discount Store, 5725 Smith.

The man was cursing and yelling at people. He did the same to police when they arrived. Police then learned that the man was wanted in Brook Park for another crime.

Larceny, possession of weapons; Snow Road: A Cleveland man, 50, was arrested at about 10:15 p.m. Jan. 28 after he shoplifted three bags of groceries from Giant Eagle, 14650 Snow.

Giant Eagle workers saw the man steal the merchandise. One worker followed the man and called police as the man left the store and ran across the street.

Police spotted the man across the street from Giant Eagle. They found two knives, with blades exceeding 2½ inches in length, on the man. Blades that long are illegal in Brook Park.

Motor vehicle theft, Snow Road: A 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck was stolen between 4:30 and 6 p.m. from the parking lot of AMF Brookgate Lanes, 14950 Snow. The victim said the truck had been locked.

Theft, Smith Road: Seventeen cases of Red Bull energy drink were stolen between 11:30 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. Jan. 25 off a delivery truck parked outside Quick State Liquor, 5945 Smith Road.

Operating a vehicle under the influence, Engle and Snow roads: A Cleveland man, 32, was arrested at about 12:30 a.m. Jan. 27 after police found him drunk in a car.

The man had passed out behind the steering wheel. His car was stopped at a traffic light. Police called paramedics because they initially weren’t sure whether the man needed medical assistance.

Breaking and entering, Middlebrook Boulevard: Jewelry, a jewelry box and a bucket of coins were stolen between 7:30 a.m. and 12:35 p.m. Sept. 7 from a house. Someone had broken through a sliding glass door to get inside.

Police said they weren’t sure why the report remained unreleased to the public for so long, but added that detectives might have investigating.

Marijuana possession, Ohio 237: A Berea woman, 21, was cited at about 2:30 a.m. Jan. 29 after police caught her with a container of marijuana in her car.

Police had stopped the woman’s car because she was driving 65 mph in a 50 mph zone. The marijuana was in a pill bottle.

Criminal damaging, South Gallatin Boulevard: Someone slashed two tires on a vehicle parked in a driveway. It happened between 9:30 p.m. Jan. 17 and 9:30 a.m. Jan. 18.

General assistance, Ashland Drive: A Medina man, 58, called Brook Park police Jan. 28 and said he had accidentally knocked his medications down the kitchen sink.

The man was visiting a friend on Ashland at the time. Police said they wrote a report because doctors won’t write new prescriptions in such cases unless they are provided a police report.
