Winners announced for Ashland parade

ASHLAND - The Ashland Alliance Winter Wonderland of Lights has announced the winners of the band and float competitions for the Winter Wonderland of Lights Christmas Parade held in downtown Ashland on Nov. 20.

Band winners: First place went to Paul G. Blazer High School Band; second place went to East High School Band; and third place was Floyd Central High School Band.

Float winners: Best of Show was House of Grace; Best Theme was Intersection Church; and runner-up was Blackhorse Farm and LifeSong Church.

Train rides and visits with Santa in Central Park will take place Dec. 7-9 and 14-20. There will also be pictures with Santa in Ashland’s oldest home, the Log House. Both activities are located on the 22nd Street end of the park, across from King’s Daughters Medical Center’s main entrance.

Karaoke and pizza with Santa and trolley rides around Central Park will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Transportation Center, 99 15th St., Ashland. This event is free and for kindergarten to sixth-grade children and is sponsored by the Ashland Bus System, Kentucky Farmers Bank and Winter Wonderland of Lights Festival.
