Police: 2nd person dies in New Jersey house explosion
ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a second person has died from an explosion that rocked a New Jersey house last month.
WNBC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1N0whPG ) 26-year-old Kimayha Henderson died Thursday from injuries she sustained in the Nov. 11 blast that killed a 24-year-old man and left another person critically injured in Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage says an apartment behind the garage was illegally receiving gas and electric. He says investigators are looking into the possibility that a gas line wasn’t properly capped after a dryer was removed from the property.
Bollwage says some residents told investigators that they smelled gas the day before the explosion and told the owner, but that the owner has denied this.
