N.M. Tech adopts Miners as mascot
New Mexico Tech, with a history steeped in the mining industry, announced Monday it was adopting an official mascot:
The university announced the results of a vote that included students, employees and alumni. Miners got 61 percent and Roadrunners, Isopods, Bighorns and Burros also got votes.
The school, now primarily known for its engineering offerings, said its communications and marketing office is working with artists to create a design for the new mascot. Potential designs will be presented to the campus community for a final round of voting in December.
