Alex Kline Awarded Music Clubs’ Grand Cup
The Pa. Federation of Music Clubs recently awarded Alex Kline, shown with his piano teacher, Andrea Bogusko, the Grand Cup for his performances for adjudication for the past 15 years of two memorized piano solos, and for three years one movement of a piano concerto. In the Spring of 2019, he will be eligible to receive the highest award, the President’s Cup. Alex is the son of Dr. Jerry and Cathy Kline, Mountain Top, and brother of Owen Kline. He is a senior and an honor student at MMI Prep, Freeland; plays violin in his school’s orchestra, is on MMI’s golf team, a 2018 graduate of Junior Leadership Wilkes-Barre, and a National Honor Society member. He plans to attend college in the Fall 2019. He has studied piano since he was 6 years old, and has performed in numerous Honors Recitals sponsored by the Ne. Pa. Music Teachers Association at the Kirby Center, Lackawanna College, Scranton as well as Penn State University, West Chester University, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After being judged on performing one memorized piano solo, he had been chosen to perform several times at Carnegie Hall, New York. In 2016, he received the prestigious Paderewski Gold Medal for 10 years of being adjudicated for performing 10 or more piano solos from the National Guild of Piano Teachers. He intends to continue his music study in college and has yet to determine his major.
