Eula Cobb, 86, formerly of Modesto, Calif., entered into eternal rest Saturday (Nov. 10, 2018) from Presence St Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee. She had recently moved to the Kankakee area to be with her daughter, Beverly.
She was born July 7, 1932, in Inverness, Miss., to the union of James and Hattie Allen. For the past 40 years, Eula was a dedicated licensed practical nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Livermore, Calif., retiring only five years ago.
Eula loved her family, who affectionately called her “Shortie,” never forgetting a birthday as they were her best friends. And she loved her dogs, Cuddles (deceased) and Kay. Her hobbies included gardening, country music and all sports, but particularly baseball. Often she would call from California to relay to Beverly how the Cubs or White Sox were performing. Eula had a keen eye for good furniture and collected China dishes and Thomas Kincaid paintings. Besides travelling, she loved going to the casinos.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, Jimmie Lee Allen; her sisters, Myrtle Lymas, Mabel Watkins, Earlene Specht and Flora Garrison; and one granddaughter, Tiffany.
Surviving are her daughter, Beverly, of Kankakee; granddaughter, Imani, of Orlando, Fla.; son, Ambeeii/Henry, of San Francisco; sisters, Alma Gray, of Sacramento, Calif., and Maggie Carr, of Modesto; grandchildren, Zahra, Khaliff and Kaleo; six great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, David and Arnell, of Modesto; nieces, Mamie, Annie-Bee, Vernessal (George), Doreen, Kathleen, Carolyn, Carrie, Sharon, Joyce, Nora, Kimberly, Stephanie, Lolita (Dee) and Charmaine (Sexton); and nephews, Willie James, Daniel, Stanley, Tyrone (Lydia), Kenneth, Rodney (Sofi), Avery, Terrence (Masami), Dana and Carl; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, until the 5 p.m. memorial service at Schreffler Funeral Homes, Kankakee Chapel.
Flowers and cards may be sent to the family of Eula Cobb in care of Schreffler Funeral Homes. Please sign her online guestbook at schrefflerfuneralhomes.com.
