Mildred “Millie” McKinzie, 99, of Greeley, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 at her home. She was born on January 23, 1919 in Arriba, Colorado to Norvel and Eleanor Switzer. She was one of 11 children.

Millie’s family traveled by covered wagon from Nebraska to Colorado when she was born. She was a true pioneer woman. Millie made her family’s clothing and cared for the animals on their family farm.

Millie and her husband, Bob McKinzie, were married for 68 years. They farmed in Nebraska until 1958, when they moved to Colorado. She was a member of the Greeley Wesleyan (now Generations) Church for 62 years. Millie worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Welsh and Associates and Scott Realty and co-owned Northern Armored Service with her husband until they sold the business and retired.

Millie enjoyed square dancing with the Merry Mixers and was active on a bowling league. She loved reading and quilting for nursing homes.

Millie is survived by her daughters, Janice Knaub and Nancy Raehal; sons, Jim (Kathy) McKinzie and Jerry (Gloria) McKinzie; sisters, Virginia (Ralph) Larsen and Myra Willett; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Bob, four sons-in-law, three brothers and six sisters.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 West 28th Street, Greeley. Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
