Grant’s Game Balls: Gasparilla Bowl - Marshall 38, South Florida 20
Offense: RB No. 24 Keion Davis — Davis came in for Brenden Knox, who broke his hand in the second quarter, and rushed for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead a Marshall rushing attack that finished with 282 yards in the victory. Davis rushed for 82 of his 94 yards in the fourth quarter.
Defense: DT No. 94 Channing Hames — For the second straight season, Hames raised havoc in the opposition’s backfield in the bowl game. Hames finished with four tackles, including two sacks of USF quarterback Blake Barnett, leading a Marshall defense that limited the Bulls to 92 rushing yards and finished with four sacks.
Special teams: WR No. 9 Marcel Williams — Williams hustled to down a quick-kick by quarterback Isaiah Green at the USF 1-yard line and, after the Herd defense forced a three-and-out, he ripped off a 28-yard punt return that set up a touchdown late in the second quarter that pushed the Marshall lead to three scores.
