KENT, Ohio (AP) _ D.J. Bosse scored 19 points to lead Kent to an 89-68 victory over Akron in the Mid-American Conference on Wednesday.

Nat Reinking scored the first jumper of the game to put Kent (8-5 overall, 2-3 MAC) out in front, and the Golden Flashes never looked back, leading Akron (3-10, 0-5) the rest of the game.

Kent led Akron 48-30 at the half. In the second half, Kent led by as much as 26 points with 5:45 remaining in the game.

Kent outrebounded Akron 48-24 and had 17 assists compared with seven by Akron.

The only player to foul out of the game was Kent’s Ben Bakken, who left with 1:39 remaining. Cameron Hill made both free throws, but was only able to cut Kent’s lead to 84-66. Andre Johnson made a jumper with 1:15 remaining for Akron’s last scoring of the game. A jumper by JShawn McKenzie and a jumper and free throw by Tom West ended the game with a score of 89-68.

In addition to Bosse, other players in double figures were Bill Davis and Ed Norvell with 16 points each and Nate Reinking with 13.

Ryan Andrick scored 17 points for Akron, and Jarvis Catron added 10.
