Local Roundup: Lison’s Big Night Propels Oakmont

ASHBURNHAM -- Kylie Lison scored 17 points, despite being the focus of heavy defensive pressure, to lead the Oakmont Regional girls’ basketball team to a 51-35 win at home over Tyngsboro on Tuesday.

Jessica Lee added 12 points and Rachel Sinclair, Leah Pelkey and Sam Gastonguay also played well offensively as the Spartans improved to 2-0 on the young season.

Oakmont is set to host its annual Christmas tournament later this week. Narragansett will face Athol at 5:30 p.m. before Oakmont takes on Clinton at 7 p.m. in Thursday’s opening round. The teams will return to Ashburnham on Friday for a 5:30 p.m. consolation game and the 7 p.m. championship.

Rachel Romero scored seven points and teammates Aleysha Santos and Emma Auger added six points each for Fitchburg (0-2), which will next host Holy Name on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Alex Bellemare paced a balanced North Middlesex attack with 13 points. Katie Kleeman (11 points) and Erin Bourgeois (10 points) were also double-figure scorers for the Patriots.

Highlights for Nashoba, which is a co-op program with swimmers from Hudson, Marlboro and Clinton, were as follows:

Liam Pyatt (Clinton) placed first in the 100 butterfly with a sectional qualifying time of 57.28. He also placed second in the 100 breaststroke with a sectional qualifying time of 1:10.49.

Minh-Huy Le (Nashoba) placed first in the 100 freestyle with a sectional qualifying time of 51.85. He also placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a sectional qualifying time of 1:10.30.

The 200 medley relay of Quinn Gross, Ben Kalber, Jake Eastman, and Dylan Gross, all from Nashoba, placed first with a sectional qualifying time of 1:58.03. In the 200 free relay, Eastman, Pyatt, Le and Kalber placed first with a state qualifying time of 1:37.79.

Freshman Abby Eastman (Nashoba) placed second in the 200 IM with a sectional qualifying, school-record time of 2:29.56.
