Henry Cavill soaring away from Superman role

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Warner Bros.′ DC movie Universe will need to find a new Man of Steel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Henry Cavill is out as Superman. The news comes as Warner Bros. was attempting to get Cavill to make a cameo in its upcoming “Kazam!” film.

THR reports contract talks broke down due to scheduling conflicts, ultimately leading to Cavill bowing out of the role entirely. Though, neither Warner Bros. or Cavill’s camp has confirmed the reports.

If accurate, Cavill joins Ben Affleck, who is expected to vacate his role as Batman in the DC Universe, in leaving the Justice League-driven the franchise.

This has led many in the industry to believe Warner Bros. will be hitting the reset button on its DC Universe, which has failed to match Disney’s Marvel films both in terms of box office and quality.

Still, the rest of Justice League will fight on. Jason Momoa stars in “Aquaman,” which arrives in December. Gal Gadot will star in “Wonder Woman 1984,” which hits theaters in November 2019. There are also plans for a standalone Flash film and a Joker origin story.
