Wayne State women’s soccer blanked at Mary 2-0
The University of Mary made the most of their six shots Sunday afternoon against Wayne State College, scoring goals in each half to defeat the Wildcats 2-0 in Northern Sun Conference women’s soccer played Sunday afternoon at the Community Bowl in Bismarck, North Dakota. The host Marauders improve to 3-3-1 and 2-2-1 in NSIC play while WSC falls to 1-5-1 and 1-3-1 in league games.
Wayne State outshot Mary 9-6 and held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks, but could not score as Mary scored goals late in the first half and in the first two minutes of the second half for the victory.
Mary’s Caylin Cathey scored at the 39:46 mark to give the Marauders a 1-0 advantage and added an insurance goal at the 47:00 mark with Megan Lowery finding the back of the net to close out the scoring.
Sophia Ketchmark and Megan Phillips each had two shots and one on goal to lead the Wildcats. Amanda Clements, Christina Stasi and Samantha Phillips also had shots on goal for WSC.
Freshman goalkeeper Alyssa Bagley recorded two saves while allowing two goals playing all 90 minutes.
