Clinton Deal Avoids Indictment
WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Clinton has reached a deal with independent counsel Robert Ray to avoid an indictment after leaving office and will offer a written acknowledgment for his conduct in the Monica Lewinsky matter, two government sources said Friday.
``The deal is going to be announced within hours,″ said one of the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The sources said the ``accommodation″ was worked out between Ray and Clinton’s private attorney, David Kendall. Kendall was not immediately available for comment.
