SAN FELIPE, Mexico (AP) _ Mark Post and Jerry Whelchel won the 12th annual Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 on Saturday in Baja California.

Post, of Laguna Hills, and Whelchel, of Rancho Santa Margarita, split driving time in their Chevrolet-powered Eagle desert race car to capture Round 2 of the 1998 Laughlin SCORE Desert Challenge. They averaged 60.65 mph over the rugged 229.6-mile course and finished in 3:47:09.

Post and Whelchel won in both the overall and Class 1 _ unlimited single or two-seater vehicles _ categories.

Troy Herbst of Las Vegas finished second overall and in Class 1, 8:53 behind the winners in his Ford-powered race car. Herbst finished the course in his Ford Truggle in 3:56:02.

Juan Carlos Ibarra finished first in the trophy-truck division and sixth overall. Ibarra, 21, of Ensenada, Mexico, beat a field of 11 trophy-trucks, finishing in 4:00:29 and averaging 47.28 mph.
