Beaver Dam woman pleads guilty to 5th OWI
JUNEAU — A 43-year-old Beaver Dam woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to her fifth offense of driving while intoxicated.
Sheila A. Hawkinson was taken into custody after the hearing in Dodge County Circuit Court. She could face up to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
According to the criminal complaint, a caller reported a red Dodge Durango driving erratically in Beaver Dam at 7:10 p.m. July 8. The caller said that the vehicle was driving all over the road, crashing into curbs, crossing the center line and almost crashed into a parked vehicle.
Beaver Dam police found the car was registered to a person who lives in the 600 block of Monroe Street, and the caller said that the vehicle went to that location and crashed into the garbage cans and garage before stopping.
Police responded to the home and noticed that the garage had received substantial damage. Hawkinson was questioned and appeared intoxicated. Hawkinson had a blood alcohol concentration of .258, more than three times the .08 legal limit in Wisconsin. Due to her prior convictions, Hawkinson’s legal limit is .02.
Hawkinson was previously convicted of OWI in 1991, 2003, 2006 and 2010.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled on April 9.
