Dufour, Calve win snowboard parallel slaloms
CAREZZA, Italy (AP) — Sylvain Dufour of France claimed his first snowboard World Cup parallel slalom victory on Saturday, beating Alexander Payer of Austria.
Dufour came from behind to beat Payer in Carezza and secure his second career World Cup victory — more than two years after winning a parallel giant slalom.
Lukas Mathies of Austria beat Switzerland’s Simon Schoch in the small final for bronze.
Dufour moved into third in the World Cup parallel standings, behind Zan Kosir of Slovenia and Mathies.
In the women’s event, Caroline Calve of Canada beat Ekaterina Tudegesheva of Russia for her third World Cup victory.
Selina Joerg of Germany took bronze after beating home favorite Nadya Ochner.
Patrizia Kummer of Switzerland and Tudegesheva are joint top of the parallel standings. Calve is 40 points behind, in third.
