TRENTON — Gov. Phil Murphy’s planned phase out of a controversial standardized test in the state’s schools is stalled and it’s unclear when it will move forward. Murphy announced plans to reduce from six to two the number of exams needed for graduation, but a planned state Board of Education vote recently was put on ice. The fate of the phase-out was left unclear after a legislative hearing this week. By Mike Catalini.


MAHWAH — A New Jersey town has agreed to repeal an ordinance that state officials said discriminated against Orthodox Jews. The moves announced Monday resolves a lawsuit the state attorney general’s office filed against Mahwah last October. The town had already repealed an ordinance that barred out-of-state residents from using its parks. Officials agreed that repeal will remain in effect.


— CONSUMER FINANCE-NEW JERSEY — New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy says he’s pushing for a new rule to protect the state’s investors.

— ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER-STOCKTON UNIVERSITY — Stockton University will conduct a study on a proposed environmental center.

— NUCLEAR WASTE STORAGE — A national consumer advocacy group is joining the fight against a proposed nuclear waste storage site in southeastern New Mexico
