ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Rookie Brent Johnson stopped 24 shots and Pavol Demitra scored two goals and had two assists to give the St. Louis Blues a 5-0 victory Tuesday night over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Scott Young also scored twice for St. Louis, which extended its unbeaten streak to 12 (11-0-1) games _ tying the team mark set in 1968-69 season. The Blues have won seven of eight home games.

The shutout was the third this season for Johnson, who won his last five games and improved to 12-1.

Scott Young scored his 17th goal of the season, on the power play, to give the Blues a 1-0 lead at 13:30. Michal Handzus made it 2-0 with his 10th goal, scored at 17:58 of the period. The goal extended Handzus’ scoring streak to eight games and his goal-scoring streak to three.

Demitra beat Columbus goalie Ron Tugnutt at 19:53, giving the Blues a 3-0 lead after the first period. Demitra made it 4-0 at 5:44 of the third. Pierre Turgeon, who had three assists, earned his 1,100th career point on Demitra’s 19th goal this season.

Tugnutt was then replaced by Marc Denis.

Young’s second of the game and 18th this season came at 10:33 of the third period to make it 5-0.

Tugnutt made 21 saves and had his three-game unbeaten streak snapped. Denis stopped five shots.

St. Louis held a 31-24 shots advantage.
