Discover Aiken: Riverside Village offers new way to live on the river

September 25, 2018

“Live, work, play” is the much-touted selling point of Riverside Village along the riverfront in North Augusta.

Riverside Village is a new development that connects to the Greeneway, an 8.2 mile trail built on an old railway that goes around the City of North Augusta. The village isn’t fully completed just yet, but its main attraction, SRP Park opened this year.

SRP Park is the new stadium of the Augusta GreenJackets minor league baseball team, which opened in April 2018. The stadium includes a 360-degree walkable concourse, occasional fireworks, beer on tap and plenty of concessions offered. Along with baseball, the stadium hosts events, conferences and concerts. Country star Jake Owen played a concert in the stadium in June 2018.

The new development will include a Crowne Plaza hotel, two apartment complexes and condominiums – hence the “live” part of the tagline.

Riverside Village also will include restaurants, such as Southbound Smokehouse and Sweetwater Brewing Company, and retail spaces, such as The Swank Company.

Riverside Village makes a perfect evening of exercise on the Greeneway, plus dinner and a game in the park.
