Blind puppy found in trash bin; Animal Care & Control seeks public’s help
A four-month-old blind puppy was found in a trash bin last month, and Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control today asked for the public’s help to find the person or persons responsible.
A garbage-truck driver found the puppy in a crate inside a trash bin March 20 in the 200 block of East Masterson Avenue, Animal Care & Control said in a statement.
After an exam by a veterinarian, “it was determined the puppy has suffered multiple traumas in its short life and as a result is now blind,” the statement said.
It said the puppy has been recovering in a home through the department’s foster program and is now available for adoption.
Officers have canvassed the area in which the puppy was found, the statement said. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Animal Care & Control at 427-1244, or 449-3000 after 8 p.m. or on weekends.
