1st weekend of spring brings out snowmobilers
LANCASTER, N.H. (AP) — A busy snowmobiling weekend in northern New Hampshire has led to some accidents, trail speed violations and other offenses.
Some riders were cited for operating with illegally altered exhaust systems and operating unregistered snowmobiles.
Among the accidents were a rider who crashed a rented snowmobile into a tree in Whitefield on Saturday. Thirty-six-year-old Jennifer Manning of Melrose, Massachusetts, suffered a leg injury after losing control of the vehicle and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Officer say rider inexperience appears to be the primary factor in the crash.
New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officer Chris Egan says trails in the northern part of Coos County were as busy, or busier than he’s seen them all season. He said businesses in the area were packed.
